De volta ao civilizacao.. (back to civilization)

Hello dear readers...

We're back in the civil world... after a week or so in Paridise we arrived in the city of Maceio, the main capital of the Alagoas state. Still beautiful though.. we booked a room in a hotel with seaview and across the beach, with a rooftop swimmingpool and free internet connection (Fernanda is sooooo happy!!).
Mum Duarte has flown back to Belo Horizonte and Dad Duarte is driving back to Belo (that's about 2000 km, but he's happy doing that). We rented a car to get to know the area on our own pace and to get back to Recife in 10 days when we fly back to Belo Horizonte.
Although we are in Maceio, we had some great days in Japaratinga. We got to know the local people very well. Because we were living in a small village and we had a car (one of the two they had there), we were known in only a few days. Mum mingled with the locals in church and Sandrijn had some parasites cut out of his feet by a 9-year old expert.. Nanda got to know the local manicure (hands for only 4 Reais) and dad had great contact with all other people there. In this village they catch their own food. Fish is on their daily menu. But chicken can be ordered at night. They will bring a freshly slaugtered animal at your doorstep at 6.30 in the morning.. still warm so you could check if it was fresh!! disadvantage.. Sandrijn had to clean the inside of the animal...
Some sad news; our beautiful breakfast area in the garden has not survived our stay. The huge parasol was attacked by small insects (those who eat wood) and it fell down one morning.. sad sad because ever since we had to eat inside.
But we had fun. Now it's only the 2 of us until the 20th of december.
