Os primeiros dias no Brazil

Oi familia e amigos!!

Finally some news from the beautiful Brazil. As we arrived yesterday, we needed a full day to recover from our flight, before we could update our ´daily´ journal.
It all started in Amsterdam, the day we left. Although there was a huge storm that day, it did not affect our departure time... until we got into the plane...
Due to some electrical failures we had to stay on the plane for 2 hours before we finally could depart. And ofcourse, the Varig aircompany is just like the Dutch railway company: it was not their fault, no information whatsoever and the staff did not know what to do... Viva Varig.
Finally we landed in Paris where half the French nation came aboard.. As of yesterday we officially hate french people (except for some french friends we have). They were loud, rude and disgusting. Than one of the toilets failed, so the entire flight, only 2 toilets were in use; and that for about 250 people on board.
With a huge delay we arrived on Sao Paulo. But, we slept a lot on the plane, so we were self confident that we would make it to our next flight. Thank god for Brazil, because that flight was delayed,so we made it! Once in Belo Horizonte, Manuela and Gustavo, Nanda´s sister and brother, were there to pick us up. The weather was nice and warm, but it rained all day, so traffic was dangerous.. Brazilians are used to lots of sun, not huge drops of rain falling out of the sky. But again, we made it safe and sound.
Once at home, Mae (or Mom) was awaiting us.
With loads of pao de quejo and fresh fruit!! Quickly we unpacked our suitcases in our(!!!!) room and we had a shower because the first party was waiting! Cousin Lucas had a farewell party because he´s going to live in England for a year. We went there and saw the entire family. ONE HUGE PARTY. To much food, to much beer and way to much fun. All friends and relatives where there and so we met Gugu´s girlfriend Isabella, Manu´s boyfriend Gustavo, and many others.
After a few gallons of beer, we ate again, but than ofcourse all leftovers. We are here for a day and we already gained 3 kilo´s. At 22.00 H we fel asleep. Exhausted! Untill 6.30 in the morning, because we had to go to the Feira Hippy; the largest alround fleemarket and a paradise for women who love bags, shoes, earrings and all other stuff that makes a woman happy when they can find good stuff at discounted prices.
Sandrijn was ofcourse the mule of that morning, because we left with too many bags and he had to carry them all. Mae and Isabella where there with us and Isabella is just as Fernanda; they love all things!
Well, that´s about it for today. Tonight we´ll have a rendez-vous with Andrei and Alexia, cousin of Nanda. I guess there will be some more beer and wine, so we will tell you later. We are really enjoying ourselves. Really looking forward to go to Maragogi in a few days!!
